Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya Wednesday reacted to the BCCI Show cause notice by saying that he was "sincerely regretful" for the remarks he made on the TV show "Koffee with Karan", which were pummeled as sexist and misogynistic.
In his reaction to the notice, which allowed him 24 hours to account for himself, Pandya said he didn't understand that his remarks would be discovered hostile.
"I made an appearance on the chat show where I have made certain statements without realizing that these could be disrespectful and offend sensitivities of viewers for which I am sincerely regretful," he wrote in his response, which is in PTI's possession.
"I would like to assure you that there was no malice or any sort of ill-intent on my part to offend anyone or portray any section of the society in a bad light. I made these statements in the flow of the show and had not comprehended the extent to which my statements would be found offensive," he added.
"Rest assured I hold the BCCI in the highest regard and will exercise complete discretion and prudence to ensure that such incidents are never repeated in future," he said.
Pandya and his teammate K L Rahul ended up in a bad position after the team was pummeled for supposedly making sexist and misogynist remarks on the TV visit indicate Koffee with Karan. In an announcement to PTI prior on Wednesday, Chairman of the Committee of Administrators (COA) that runs the BCCI, Vinod Rai, stated: "We have sent show-cause notification to Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul for their remarks. They have been given 24 hours to give a clarification."
As indicated by the news office, the reactions looked by the players may provoke the Board to ban players from showing up on shows not related with cricket. "It will be viewed as whether players ought to try and be permitted to show up on such shows which have nothing to do with cricket," a BCCI source told PTI.
